Hi loopers,

Happy long weekend—and happy 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! There's no shortage of excitement around NYC. The city is hosting the largest maritime and aerial gathering in American history, with more than 30 tall ships filling the harbor and a spectacular flyover led by the Blue Angels. Between the Knicks' playoff run, the FIFA World Cup, the Semiquincentennial celebrations, and Fleet Week, this has been one energetic summer. I'm loving the buzz.

What I'm not loving? This heat wave. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to cool off this weekend, and I've rounded up the best family-friendly events, activities, and celebrations below. Whether you're staying in the city or sneaking away for a long weekend, I hope you have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July!

As always, everything below is free unless noted, because "What should we do?" shouldn't turn into Saturday morning stress. And don't forget to check out the recurring activities at the end!
